Wedding Guests See Bestiality Video By Mistake
A British man was found guilty on Tuesday of having sex with a dog after a video he made of the act was inadvertently shown to speechless wedding guests expecting to see a replay of a marriage ceremony.
The 59-year-old lent his video recorder to a friend to film the wedding, but forgot to erase from the tape scenes of himself in sex acts with a neighbor’s bull terrier named Ronnie.
The man said the 10-minute film shown to the jury had been an attempt at trick photography and featured only simulated sex acts. He will be sentenced after psychiatric and other reports have been made available.
The 50-year-old study of sexual behavior by Alfred Kinsey and his colleagues is still the principal source of information on the prevalence of bestiality. In the population as a whole, about 8% of males had sexual contact with an animal to the point of orgasm at some point in their lives, according to Kinsey. Among females, 3.6% had some form of sexual contact with animals, but this led to orgasm in only 0.5% of the females.
For most of these individuals, sexual contact with an animal did not happen more than once or twice or a few times in a lifetime. For the males, the most common animal was a sheep, calf, or burro, and the activity included vaginal intercourse.
For females, it usually involved a dog and sometimes a cat and was limited to having the animal perform cunnilingus or to the female masturbating a male animal.
The practice is believed to be far more common among boys raised on farms, where it is prompted by observations of the sexual activity of farm animals.
As a general rule, contact with an animal is a passing phase in a person's sexual history. It is replaced by intercourse with a human partner as soon as that is available.
If the bestiality occurs during youth and infrequently, it does not indicate personality disturbance. In rare cases, however, the animal experience has been so extensive that one becomes conditioned to it as the principal source of arousal. In those cases, it may preclude formation of a normal sexual relationship, and the diagnosis of zoophilia is warranted.
