In Turkije zijn sinds een tijd processen bezig tegen het zogenaamde "Ergenekon" netwerk. Deze groepering bestaat uit militairen, politici en burgers, die door middel van destabilizering de Turkse regering omver wil werpen. Momenteel wordt onder meer in de Turkse Today's Zaman bericht over mogelijke banden tussen dit netwerk, en PKK-leider Abdullah Öcalan. Indien deze beschuldigingen waarzijn, dan is dit -bovenop de overige Ergenekon onthullingen- een politieke tijdbom.
